The Philosophy of Yoga Therapy
Welcome to Yoga Therapy! We start by exploring your vocation as a teacher of therapeutic yoga and discover how your heart-felt values help you connect to your students in meaningful ways. You’ll learn how yoga philosophy forms the foundations for Yoga Therapy and how to use ancient principles and practices to help students heal from physical, emotional and mental dis-ease.
Introduction to Therapeutic Teaching Methodologies
This introduction to therapeutic teaching methodologies will radically change the way you plan and teach yoga classes. You will learn foundational techniques for assessing the needs of individual students and working hands-on with them to meet those needs.
Yoga Therapy and the Breath
Expand your understanding of the subtle energetic body as we explore prana, pranayama and the nadis. In this workshop, you’ll gain confidence and expertise in teaching powerful pranayama techniques that harness the power of prana to create profound healing transformations.
Meditation in Yoga Therapy
Explore how meditation is integrated into yoga therapy as a tool for healing. Build your confidence in teaching (and practicing) a variety of meditation styles including mindfulness, mantra and moving meditation.
Yoga Anatomy – The Diversity of the Human Body
In this workshop, you’ll taking a fresh look at yogic anatomy as we explore the human body through the yoga lens. No two bodies are the same and this workshop introduces you to the skills required to understand how individual anatomical features impact the way how your students move. You’ll learn why one-size never fits all when it comes to Yoga Therapy and how to adapt what you teach to meet the individual anatomical features of each student.
Introduction to Therapeutic Alignment and Adjusting
Prepare to question some of the alignment and adjusting principles you learned in your Level 1 teacher training! Yoga therapy takes a very different approach to teaching asana and this workshop will help you to take your first steps towards assisting students from a therapeutic viewpoint.
Introduction to Ayurveda in Yoga Therapy
Ayurveda, India's ancient system of healing, is at the very heart of Yoga Therapy. Over two days, you will immerse yourself in the wisdom of Ayurveda and discover how Ayurvedic principles infuse the practice and philosophy of Yoga Therapy. Along the way, you’ll gain the practical skills you need to assess your students using Ayurveda and apply Ayurvedic techniques to support them as they heal from a variety of health conditions.
Managing common health issues with Yoga Therapy
Have you had students come to your classes with back pain but you weren't sure how to help them ? Do you know people who live with anxiety but you don't know how to support them with yoga? In this exciting session you will discover the Yoga Therapy approach to managing some of the health issues that you will see in class every week as a yoga therapist. You'll learn how to support students to move towards better health through simple Yoga Therapy techniques.

What Accreditation Will I Receive?
A Yoga Australia registered post-graduate program, RYT200 teachers will be able to apply for full Level 1 membership of Yoga Australia (350hrs) after successfully completing this course. You will also be eligible to apply to accredited professional Yoga Therapy Teacher Training programs*.
Online Foundations of Yoga Therapy Certificate 2020 dates and times

You will experience a 1.5hr private Yoga Therapy session with a senior yoga therapist, conducted online at a time to suit you and your teacher. In this session, you will experience a full Yoga Therapy consultation and receive a detailed, personalised Yoga Therapy practice designed to meet your specific needs. This session is included in the price of the program - no hidden costs.

Course Director
Founder of Adore Yoga, Nikola has been immersed in yoga for over 25 years, studying with leading international teachers including TKV Desikachar, Judith Lasater, Donna Farhi, Ganesh Mohan, and Saraswathi Vasudevan. Nikola has been training yoga teachers and therapists for 14 years and runs a successful private Yoga Therapy practice in Sydney. She develops, delivers and consults on Yoga Therapy programs for organisations including A Sound Life, Cancer Council NSW, The Butterfly Foundation and RSL Defence Care.

Joan Miller
Joan Miller is a senior and talented teacher with over 30 years of experience in yoga teaching and teacher training. Joan takes yoga back to its authentic roots, using the traditional practices of Hatha Yoga to help her students develop spiritual and physical awareness. Certified by over five nationally and internationally recognised bodies, member of Australia’s peak body for Yoga, Yoga Australia and Accredited Journey Therapist, Joan is a highly qualified, compassionate and inspiring Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist and Reiki Master.

Tracy Gerza
A passionate student and teacher of anatomy, Tracy has studied with Qi Yoga and Polestar Pilates as well as undertaking training in Yin Yoga, Yoga Therapy and more. She emphasizes function, stability and introspection rather than aesthetic 'perfection', encouraging students to work at their own pace and listen to their bodies for a safe and enjoyable practice.
Tracy believes in making yoga accessible to everyone and uses her joyful, nurturing nature to do just that. She is currently studying Pilates rehab in her quest to offer her students a highly personalized and healing experience of yoga.

Sunita Patil
Sunita is a yogini, teacher, writer, artist, and coach. She has over a 30 years experience of yoga and over the past 17 years she has taught thousands of students in Australia, USA and India. Sunita has studied yoga, ayurveda and Sanskrit at advanced levels in India (BKS Iyengar Institute), Europe (Yoga Philosophy at the University of Oxford), the USA and Australia. Sunita is passionate about making the sophisticated aspects of yoga philosophy accessible to everyone.
