What students are saying about this course:

"I came from a totally different background in facilitation as a performing arts and public speaking coach. I was very interested in this particular meditation facilitation course, having practiced yoga for many years. I was so glad I enrolled. I really enjoyed working with Sunita, Nikola and the wonderful students. The philosophy and theory behind what we practiced was so helpful. I look forward to dedicating a whole course to meditation now and sharing this with our performing art and public speaking students! Thanks Adore Yoga."

Meditation Facilitator Certificate Curriculum

The History and Philosophy of Meditation

We start with a fascinating introduction to the philosophy of meditation. We will explore the practice of meditation through the lens of classical texts such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita to gain a broad insight into the practice, purpose and experience of meditation.

Eastern Traditions-Western Mind

We will examine the philosophical underpinnings of meditation through an exploration of East-West psychology. Why did Eastern psychology give rise to the rich traditions of meditation and how is it different to the western approach to mental health? How do we integrate our understanding of both eastern and western psychology?

Mindfulness

What is the mind? What does it do and what are its functions? You'll discover the classical yoga perspective on the nature of the mind itself and then explore the benefits - and potential drawbacks - of mindfulness meditation.  You'll learn how careful preparation can make all the difference to the mediation experience and look at ways to take mindfulness off the meditation cushion and into daily life.

 The Body-Mind

How are the body and mind connected? How does the body influence the mind and vice versa? Can we even separate the two? Drawing on ancient traditions and modern neuroscience, we will be exploring how to integrate both body and mind in our meditation practice.

Prana, Energy and Meditation

Discover meditation in the context of the human energetic system. In this fascinating workshop, you will learn about the yogic concepts of Prana (life force energy), Nadis (energy channels) and Chakras (physical energy centres). Find out about the role of breathing in mental health and explore the links between the breath and meditation. This part of the course includes training in key yoga breathing techniques (Pranayama) and how to harness the life-force energy to prepare for and enhance the experience of meditation.

Relaxation and Meditation

How are your stress levels? Relaxation plays a crucial role in the preparation for and practice of meditation. We will be exploring relaxation techniques that prepare for and enhance meditation, including Yoga Nidra/iRest, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided relaxation.

Structuring Meditation Classes

Learn how to create meditation trainings that flow seamlessly, offering your students a rich experience of personal re-integration. You’ll learn how to prepare, plan and deliver courses of different lengths and workshops that meet your students’ needs. At the end of this session you will have a five week mediation training program ready to offer to your students.

What students are saying about this course:

"I am yoga teacher, specializing in teaching over 50’s. I enrolled in this course for two reasons, one was to establish my own practice and the other to include some of the elements of meditation in my teaching. The facilitators Sunita and Nikola are very knowledgeable and engaging. There were 12 of us in the course. About half  of the participants were not yoga teachers. This made the course even more very interesting.  The non- teachers work in ‘other healing’ roles such as voice coaching, clinical physiologist. In group practice session it was lovely to see non yogic interpretation of yogic principles & practising. We  also learnt about course planning, understanding our market – which was very helpful. I am already planning a four week introductory yoga course!

I came away at the end of course feeling tired and on high. I had a surge of optimism which I have not felt for a long time. I would highly recommend this course for anybody wishing to brush up on their yoga knowledge, for those who want to learn about yoga philosophy and for those who want to learn meditation. Thank you for the experience."
