What students are saying about this course:
"I came from a totally different background in facilitation as a performing arts and public speaking coach. I was very interested in this particular meditation facilitation course, having practiced yoga for many years. I was so glad I enrolled. I really enjoyed working with Sunita, Nikola and the wonderful students. The philosophy and theory behind what we practiced was so helpful. I look forward to dedicating a whole course to meditation now and sharing this with our performing art and public speaking students! Thanks Adore Yoga."

Meditation Facilitator Certificate Curriculum

The Neuroscience and Philosophy of Meditation

Your training starts with an exploration of the ancient philosophy of meditation and the cutting edge neuroscience. You'll learn the traditional wisdom of meditation through the teachings of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and discover the modern evidence base for meditation as we dive into the research on meditation and neuroscience.

Eastern Traditions-Western Mind

How is Eastern psychology different to the Western approach to mental health? In this fascinating section of the course, you'll do a deep dive into the psychology of meditation and learn how to integrate ancient Eastern practices into classes for modern Western students.

What is the mind? What does it do and what are its functions? You'll discover the classical yoga perspective on the nature of the mind itself and then explore the benefits - and potential drawbacks - of mindfulness meditation.  You'll learn how careful preparation can make all the difference to the mediation experience and look at ways to take mindfulness off the meditation cushion and into daily life. In this section of the course you'll learn to practice and teach a number of different mindfulness practices.

 The Body-Mind

How are the body and mind connected? How does the body influence the mind and vice versa? Drawing on ancient traditions and modern science, we will explore how to integrate body and mind in our meditation practice. In this section of the course, you will learn to practice and teach mindful movements, including walking meditation and yoga postures that enhance meditation.

Prana, Energy and Meditation

Explore the yogic concepts of Prana (life force energy), Nadis (energy channels) and Chakras (physical energy centres) and how to use these subtle energies in meditation practice. In this section of the course, you will learn important yoga breathing techniques (Pranayama) and how to teach these techniques to support positive mental health.

Relaxation and Meditation

Global stress levels are exceptionally high right now. Relaxation plays a crucial role in the practice of meditation. In this section of the course, you will learn effective relaxation techniques that bring instant calm and enhance meditation. Learn how to teach Yoga Nidra, progressive muscle relaxation and guided relaxations.

Structuring Meditation Classes

Learn how to create meditation classes - online and offline - that flow seamlessly. You’ll learn how to prepare, plan and deliver classes and courses that meet your students’ needs. At the end of this session you will have a five week meditation course ready to offer to your students. You'll also receive expert coaching on how to teach meditation online.

What style of meditation will I learn?

While meditation is for everybody, not all meditation styles are right for every individual. Recognising that different students have different needs and preferences, in this course you will gain the skills and confidence to teach five different meditation techniques:

  • Mindfulness meditation
  • Mantra meditation
  • Moving meditation
  • Metta (Loving Kindness) meditation
  • Yoga Nidra meditation

  • Social and community workers
  • Naturopaths
  • Body workers

Can I earn CPD points with this course?

This course provides 12 core contact hours and 18 non-contact hours of Continued Professional Development with Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance.

Will I get a certificate at the end?
If you complete all the course requirements, including assignments and attending the live tutorials, you will receive a certificate of completion of 30hrs professional Meditation Teacher Training.

How much home study is there and what will I be doing?

You will be completing 18 hours of home study. This includes:
  • Reading tasks
  • Short written assignments
  • Meditation teaching practice
  • Watching videos
  • Doing a meditation home practice
  • Online education modules
Your home study tasks will be delivered each week during the course. All home study tasks should be completed no later than 10 days after course completion in order to achieve certification.
Do I have to attend all the live workshops or can I just watch the recordings?
To receive your certification of completion for this course, you must attend 80% of the live workshop hours. This is not one of those courses where you simply watch a video in order to pass the course. This program is designed to give you real, transferable skills and plenty of practice teaching meditation in real-time. In short, standards are high.
All of the live workshops include teaching practice and assessments. That means you will be assessed on what you have learned during the home study sessions and your capacity to teach meditation during the live workshops. If you are unable to attend 80% of the live workshops, please let a course advisor know and you may be able to complete the course by doing extra assessment work in your own time. If you miss 20% of the live workshops or less, recordings of the sessions you miss will be provided.

What students are saying about this course:

"I am yoga teacher, specializing in teaching over 50’s. I enrolled in this course for two reasons, one was to establish my own practice and the other to include some of the elements of meditation in my teaching. The facilitators Sunita and Nikola are very knowledgeable and engaging. There were 12 of us in the course. About half  of the participants were not yoga teachers. This made the course even more very interesting.  The non- teachers work in ‘other healing’ roles such as voice coaching, clinical physiologist. In group practice session it was lovely to see non yogic interpretation of yogic principles & practising. We  also learnt about course planning, understanding our market – which was very helpful. I am already planning a four week introductory yoga course!

I came away at the end of course feeling tired and on high. I had a surge of optimism which I have not felt for a long time. I would highly recommend this course for anybody wishing to brush up on their yoga knowledge, for those who want to learn about yoga philosophy and for those who want to learn meditation. Thank you for the experience."
